Art Tag with Stencil Girl Stencils

I love using more than one stencil in a project kind of like a mix and match sort of thing. The other thing I love is using different products with stencils. On this tag that I created I used distress inks, embossing powder and Dylusions paint.

Here are the 2 fun stencils I used for this art tag

I started out by using my embossing ink with the top stencil and pink embossing powder this created s great resist and accent on the side of my tag

Then I used my distress inks for my tree in mowed lawn, crushed olive and walnut stain

I then used my black Dylusions paint for the quote “root down to grow up” I dried the quote and then used 3 distress inks in a variety of blues for the back ground :  peacock feathers , faded jeans and tumbled glass. Then used some walnut stain around the edges.

I’m learning that things we go through in life even those things that are very difficult help us to grow up and and teach us about ourselves. As well as challenge us and we find out how strong of a person we really are when put to the test.  Wishing everyone a peaceful and happy evening ❤️

3D Art Journal page and making flowers with stencils

Good evening everyone. It’s been awhile, most of you know that earlier this week I lost my dad to pancreatic cancer He was 80 yrs old. Today we layed him to rest at St Mary’s Cemetery and Baldwinsville, NY.   He will be greatly missed by many but mostly by my mom his wife of 60yrs. It was important to be there for my mom during this extremely hard time so I thank all of your for patiently waiting for my return and all the well wishes and prayers that were sent they truly mean so very much. I am beyond blessed with so many loving friends especially here online. It truly has been a blessing and filled my heart.

So this evenings art journal page I have created started with the thought of spring and beautiful flowers.

I used some Prima and some die cut flowers and put a coat of gesso on them.

Then using this gorgeous stencil By Jessica Sporn. Laying it over the flower used some yellow and some pink Dylusions paint to get a design on it.

Here is what it looked one once finished

Using this beautiful stencil added a flower center with one of the flowers shown above

I continued on the of the flowers adding stencil designs in various colors until I was happy with them all

Here are some close ups of the completed flowers.

Using the leaves on this stencil with is : Eastern Leaf, Lotus and Flower Repeat Stencil. I added my flower stems

The back ground was actually created by accident. I had sprayed on this paper and wiped off various stencils with creating my flowers I ended up loving what it looked like and used it.

I layered some of the flowers and adhered them.

Added my art journal sentiment which says “Find your true path”.

Hope you enjoyed tonight’s art journal page. Wishing everyone lots of peace and happiness this evening. ❤️❤️

ATCs from gelli prints

So today I’m going to show you a quick way to make a bunch of ATCs, tags or mini cards from your gelli prints.  So start with a bunch of gelli prints and pick a sheet or 2 to start with.

I made all these with Jessica Sporn’s new lacy lotus repeat stencil. I cut them into 3″x4″ cards I only used 2 sheets as I needed to make 7 cards.

Then I took my Dylusions sprays and spayed various colors to get the look I wanted

I blotted then off and look how awesome the gelli print looks and acts like a resist

Then I took a floral stencil and used just parts of it to add a little more dimension and interest. I cut some butterflies out with a Tim Holtz die. Spritzed then with some Dylusions and then used some inka gold over the embossed areas to get some yummy shimmer.

Adhered the butterflies added some Prina gems and with some black fluid acrylic paint wrote Be Free on each one. To finishers them off added some doodling with a white get peon. Some dots and outlined each card.  They are all set for trading and prob only took me less than an hour to create them all. These were so much fun to create thinking of doing some for another swap. Have s fabulous day ❤️❤️❤️

Namaste Art Journal Page

Good afternoon everyone. I woke up this morning to a blustery snow storm. Not what I expected for an early day in April when we have been having some 60s  and we are expecting another hit tonight of 3-6 inches of snow so wherever you are stay safe and warm. So on this cold day what better thing to do than play in my art studio.

Some of you who know me know I’m a big Yoga nut and a huge advocate for the benefits yoga has both on your body and your mind.

Jessica Sporn has some of the most amazing yoga stencils. And I started my project with one of her new stencils called lacy lotus repeat

I used the colors of the chakras with this stencil and applied acrylic paint with a sponge in rows to create this background.

I felt it a bit too “lined” so I added some white paint over the whole page and scraped it off with a piece of cardboard

I kind of went back and forth with applying the colors of paint and the white paint until I got it how I wanted it.

So I took the next stencil called Namaste. I wanted to know what exactly that meant so I looked it up and well, felt it so fitting to use on my page today. Here is the meaning I found:

The gesture Namaste represents the belief that there is a Divine spark within each of us that is located in the heart chakra. The gesture is an acknowledgment of the soul in one by the soul in another. “Nama” means bow, “as” means I, and “te” means you. Therefore, Namaste literally means “bow me you” or “I bow to you.”
I applied black paint using the top of the stencil (that reminds me of a mandala) and just did half at the top and half at the bottom and then shifted the stencil just a bit and applied white paint over the top. I went back in with a white gel pen over the words to get them to stand out a bit more and used a pink paint and stenciled the hands.
Used some black paint to outline the page. And here is the completed page. To  all of my friends and followers Namaste. I know each one of you has an amazing spark so let it shine and spread that spark of happiness and love wherever you go ❤️❤️❤️

Wings – art journal page

Today’s art journal page started with a paper towel that I had been using to blot with while using my Dylusions Sprays. I loved how it looked and thought this is way too pretty to throw away.

So I took this piece and separated it ( it was a 2 ply so now I get double use out of it 😃)

I used my glue and seal and glued it to a mini art journal I created from a junk pamphlet that had come in the mail for some clothing store.

Here is a pic of a couple pages inside I had previously completed.

Here is the front of the journal after being gessoed
With my back ground done I took one of my new Crafter’s Workshop stencils called Class Picture by Rebekah Meier and chose to use the girl part of this stencil

I stenciled her in white and loved how the color in the back ground seeped through giving her a bit of color.

Then I decided to give her wings so I used the Angel Wings stencil by Carmen Medlin. I used white paint with an iridescent medium but that didn’t really seem to give much simmer with it being on a paper towel as you can see here

I then wrote my quote on a piece of old book paper and cut it out. It says :  “what if I fall ?… Oh, but my darling what if you fly”  -e.h.

Not being fully happy with the final out come as I still wanted the wings to have a shimmer to them. I went back in and added some some sticklers in Crystal just a bit here and there in the edges not covering th entire wings just adding enough to give her wings a bit of shine

Hope you enjoyed tonight’s art journal page and remember to yak that leap of faith and Fly ❤️❤️❤️
